Adam P. Freedman

Adam P. Freedman joined Mr. Markey as co-founder and Principal of JKM Developers in 2008. Mr. Freedman’s primary responsibilities at JKM include financial analysis, risk management and accounting operations.  Prior to co-founding JKM, Mr. Freedman worked alongside Mr. Markey at Boca Raton based EB Developers as a financial analyst, risk manager and chief technology officer.  Freedman’s expertise and passion lay in forming strong public-private partnerships and creating financial models for all aspects of development.

Prior to relocating to South Florida, Mr. Freedman served as a consultant to Morgan Stanley.  At Morgan Stanley Mr. Freedman was tasked with the design and implementation of an information system developed to analyze and evaluate the degree of competition between large public firms in the healthcare sector.
Freedman launched his professional career as a technical analyst for Trans Union, LLC, a global leader in credit and information management. He was responsible for the design, development, and implementation of a reporting system used to monitor associate performance and operations efficiency.
Freedman holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Delaware, where he majored in Finance with minors in Economics and Management Information Systems.

James S. Gielda

James S. Gielda joined Mr. Markey as co-founder and Principal of JKM Developers in 2008.    Mr. Gielda’s primary responsibilities at JKM include project entitlements, design and marketing.  Prior to co-founding JKM Developers, Gielda worked alongside John Markey at Boca-Raton based EB Developers, Inc. as a Director of Real Estate Entitlements.  Gielda managed and executed land use, concurrency, site plan, architecture, environmental, and permit approvals for numerous single family, multi-family, and mixed-use developments.  His experience spans projects located in the Hillsborough, Orange, St. Lucie, Palm Beach, Broward, and Miami-Dade County markets.  

Gielda began his professional career with one of the largest land use consulting firms in South Florida, Land Design South where he was responsible for managing and executing comprehensive plan, re-zoning, conditional/requested use, master/site plan, and architectural approvals while leading an interdisciplinary team of four staff members.  

Mr. Gielda graduated with a Bachelors of Landscape Architecture degree from the School of Architecture + Design, Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.    He is a member of the Palm Beach County Planning Congress, serves as a Florida state-level real estate and construction lobbyist and holds a Florida Real Estate License.

John K. Markey

John K. Markey serves as the Managing Principal of JKM and is responsible for product development, operations, underwriting and sourcing capital investments. Mr. Markey formed JKM Developers in 2008 after successfully leading EB Developers, Inc. as Chief Executive Officer.

At EB Markey assumed responsibility for overall company direction and growth. The firm acquired numerous parcels through­out the state of Florida, resulting in the construction of institutional quality, Class ‘A’ multi-family rental communities; garden-style and high rise condominiums; and high-end single family homes. Under Markey’s direction the firm grew from $60 million under development to in excess of $4 billion.

Prior to his tenure at EB, Markey served as a Managing Partner and project architect at the prestigious South Florida architectural firm, Tektonica. He has owned and operated both Hoffman, Markey Architects, PA in Florida and JKM Design/Build, Inc. in Maryland as a design architect and general contractor.

Mr. Markey is a Harvard University Graduate School of Design trained architect where he has been nominated as a Loeb Fellow for excellence in the built and natural environments.  As an undergraduate at the University of Arizona Mr. Markey worked as a tradesman on project jobsites. In a forty year career he has mastered all aspects of the real estate business from the ground-up, as an architect, general contractor and real estate developer.
